It is summer, and we are the Ambrosios, so you must be wondering...

Where are we moving this summer?

In the summer of 2007, I (Emalei) moved from Los Angeles to Seattle. In the summer of 2008 we moved to Switzerland. In the summer of 2009 we moved to Seattle. In the summer of 2010 we moved to Omaha.

Well people, I've come full circle. This summer, we are moving to Los Angeles. Glendale, to be specific. When we moved to Omaha, we hoped that it would be temporary, and Fabio started applying for jobs (mostly the same job he has now) with the IRS on the West Coast, with the hope of getting back to Seattle, or at least somewhere on the West Coast. He interviewed for almost all of the locations he applied for, which would be about 9. He was offered a job in a few locations, but the one in Glendale was most appealing for a few reasons. To make a long, complicated story short, he already has a great relationship with his new manager, he has the potential for "promotion" that he would not have in other locations, he may be able to transfer to Seattle in the near future, and he will work in a niche area of tax law (gift and estate). This will provide a new challenge for Fabio, who is always looking for something new and challenging.

We are not thrilled about the location. I feel like I've "been there, done that", when it comes to L.A. It's expensive and crowded. However, we are trying to be positive. Here are some of the positives I'm trying to focus on:

  • L.A. is full of fun things to do.
  • It's warm year round.
  • There are cheap, one way flights to important places (i.e. Pasco, WA, St. George, UT and Rome, Italy).
  • We signed a lease on a nice apartment only .8 miles from Fabio's office.
  • Maybe people will come visit us now that we live in such an accessible place that has touristy things to do.
  • Awesome seafood in Malibu (Fabio's favorite)!
  • The ocean (Fabio's favorite).
  • The beach is close.

We move at the end of July and Fabio starts work on August 1. In true Ambrosio style, it will be a serious whirlwind, but we feel great about this next step, as it is more than what we hoped for when we moved to Omaha. The most important thing is that we feel it is the best step for where Fabio wants to go in his career, and I couldn't be more proud of his hard work and success!

Boy, was I surprised to see St. George on the list of fun places to fly to from LA. Yippee, skippee. Can't wait.

I'm not even going to try and guess what summer 2012 holds for the Ambrosios!

Then again, Beth, St. G is really only like, what, a 6-hour drive from LA? Even better!! :)

Congrats on the new move. No mas negativity, tho. No, its not Seattle, but its also not Omaha. So keep that cup half full!
