M.Ed., Descanso Gardens and a Turning Point in Parenthood

After three and a half years of taking graduate classes, all while moving three times, working full-time and having a baby, I have finally received my M.Ed. in Curriculum  I must say, it's a little bittersweet because I'm not teaching now, so I won't truly reap the monetary/career opportunities anytime in the near future.  But, it feels good, and it will definitely pay off down the road.

Since this was a pretty big accomplishment, Fabio wanted to celebrate today. We decided to go to the nearby Descanso Gardens and then have sushi for lunch. Descanso Gardens was really nice. Quiet, cool (in the shade) and beautiful. Matteo loved it. He sat peacefully in his stroller and took in nature.  He especially enjoyed the big fish in the pond, seeing a toad and a turtle among the lillypads and looking at all the little creeks and fountains.

After our outing, we headed to our favorite sushi place in Glendale.  Our pleasant afternoon ended once we walked in the door.  Without going into too much detail, instead of chatting over our diet cokes and enjoying our food, we spent our time trying to prevent Matteo from screeching, throwing toys and food and reaching for everything breakable on the table.  We were not successful.  After he got his hands on the soy sauce container and it ended up in pieces all over the floor, we decided  to relieve everyone in the restaurant and leave with our sushi in a doggie bag.

We have now come to the sad resolution that, for now, we are no longer able to eat out, especially when we are going to spend upwards of $50 on a meal.  Who would have thought that our sweet, well mannered baby would have turned into this? Sigh... As Fabio said earlier, it's a good thing he is cute, or we might not be so keen on forgiving him.
