The view of the Bavarian Alps from our hotel room. The weather could not have been nicer, and considering the %$!$#! winter we've had, that's saying A LOT.
Hohenschwangau Castle (built in the 1100s, but as you can tell, was remodeled in the 1800s by an Italian from Napoli...very Mediterrenean looking):
Even though the snow on Sunday morning was trying to disprove it, this is proof that spring has come to Bavaria!
I like profile shots of Fabio. We are in Hohenschwangau Castle and we had a great view of Neuschwanstein Castle from there.
We didn't know we had to hike to Neuschwanstein! We were so glad it wasn't raining! It wasn't bad, but I'm glad I wore comfy shoes!
Getting up close and personal. Neuschwanstein was started by King Ludwig, but upon his untimely death, construction halted. Thus, the majority of the interior was never finished.
It got cloudy after we came out of Neuschwanstein Castle, and winter came back for the rest of the weekend. Good news is, we were pretty much done touring for the day! Thank you to the birthday gods for beautiful weather for at least a few hours!

Thank you to Fabio for making my 30th birthday incredibly memorable! He sang happy birthday to me all weekend, and let me get away with almost anything because it was "my birthday." (I said that all weekend.)

Look absolutely beautiful. These kind of places are just hard to imagine. It's like - - do they realy exist? Glad you had a good time.
Yay! I have been waiting for this post for what seems like ages. You have such a cool life. What did you do to that third from the last photo? Way cool. Almost looks like a sepia tone or something.
So beautiful -- and the blue sky creates such a fabulous backdrop for the magical scenery. Good job, Fabio!
