Matteo learned two very important words while he was in Italy. Nonna. Nonno. He actually learned nonno before our trip, but he really started associating his two Nonnos with the word while we were there. He said both of these words at least 100 times a day.
In Rimini, he would wake up and instantly ask for his Nonno.
As he climbed the stairs in Taranto, he would yell the whole way up (anticipating who was waiting for him), "Nooooonnnnnnoooooo!" As soon as the door opened, he would race around the corner and into Nonno's room, where he was waiting for him. He would give lots of bacetti (kisses) to Nonno, and then go on with his business.
Matteo woke up fairly early our first morning in Taranto. La Nonna came in to take him and the instant he saw her, he said in a sweet voice, "Nonna!" And promptly laid his head on her shoulder. They became the best of buddies in the 8 days they spent together.
Matteo was spoiled rotten. He watched lots of cartoons, ate lots of yummy food, was smothered with thousands of kisses. He could do no wrong in their eyes, and everything he did was the most intelligent, adorable thing ever. He still calls "Nonno!" and "Nonna!" but Skype has to do for now. :)
